Google’s services and products are blocked in China and this has led the Chinese brands that manufacture smartphones in the country to create their own apps for even basic tasks such as calculators, calendars, galleries and so forth.
Xiaomi, arguably one of the most notorious smartphone brands in China has created its own suite of Mi apps and, more recently, the company has developed a health and fitness app dubbed Mi Health.
This is not the first time we see this type of app from the company: we can even find its Mi Fit on Google Play but the Mi Health seems to only be available on the latest MIUI China Developer 9.7.23 beta build. XDADevelopers got to work and extracted the APK but soon realized that the app can only be installed on Xiaomi devices.
The app in itself is not particularly innovative: it tracks your steps, your sleep as well as menstruation cycles via the calendar. Just like any other fitness app, it will allow you to set goals and will give you Health Scores based on your overall performance, which includes sleep, BMI and step count.
It’s unknown at this time if Xiaomi plans to launch the app on the Google Play Store or if, alternatively, it plans to replace the Mi Fit with it instead.
