Redmi has announced its latest smartphone, the successor to the Redmi 7A, who arrives with a number of improvements over its older sibling.
To begin with, it features a 6.22 inch IPS display with an HD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch. This notch hosts an 8Mp selfie snapper and has Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
On the back, we’ll find one single 12MP F/1.8 Sony IMX363 camera with dual PD autofocus. The phone does not feature fingerprint reader on the back or an in-display one so you will have to get used to face unlock if you decide to purchase the device.
Under the hood, we’ll find a Snapdragon 439 chipset alongside 2/3GB RAM and 32GB worth of internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD.
A mammoth 5,000mAh battery juices up the smartphone and you can top it up via USB Type-C or 18W fast charging. However, the phone only arrives with a 10W adapter in the box.
The Redmi 8A ships with MIUI 10 on top of Android 9 Pie but the MIUI 10 will be receiving an update pretty soon.
Other features include a P2i rating, an IR port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and dual SIM support.
The phone will be up for sale as of September 30th and will come in Sunset Red, Ocean Blue and Midnight Black color options. One of the best news is that the price tags attached to it are more than affordable: the 2/32 GB model will cost around $91, after conversion while the 3/32 GB variant will only make your wallet $98 lighter.
