Taiwanese startup Gogoro, known for their luxury electric scooters, now introduced their first e-bikes.
Just looking at the Gogoro Eeyo 1 and its more expensive version, the Eeyo 1S, will make you break out in sweats.
It’s not because of pedaling but because of the price and features!
These two gorgeous e-bikes use top tier materials like carbon fiber and aluminum, with the battery, motor and sensors placed discreetly in the back wheel baptized “the Smartwheel” by Gogoro.
The 43.6-volt, 123Wh battery will take you 40 miles in Sport mode and 55 miles in Eco mode, with pedal assist and a top speed of 19 mph.
Unlike other e-bikes, the battery is not removable, so owners will have to bring the Eeyo 1 or Eeyo 1S indoors to charge it using a cord.
And, while that sounds like a bit too much effort, apparently Gogoro thought of everything.
This is what Gogoro’s CEO Horace Luke told The Verge:
“We’re not making a traditional e-bike with a big battery, or a big basket in the front, or big racks you can bolt on.
The idea was to build a bike for the population that said, ‘hey, I don’t want a [Chevy] Suburban. I don’t want a [Ford] F-150. I actually prefer the sports car.’”
Just how sports car-like is the price tag for this e-bike?
The base Eeyo 1 is $3,899 for all of its 27.5-pound of e-bike glory, while the Eeyo 1S, weighing just 26.4 pounds, will go for $4,599.
The Eeyo 1 will launch this summer, with Gogoro fixing a July release date for the US and Taiwan.
