This week, Amazon has just launched Amazon Pharmacy and has started delivering prescription medications to its US customers.
The online sales titan said that they designed Amazon Pharmacy to put customers first – bringing Amazon’s customer obsession to an industry that can be inconvenient and confusing, stated TJ Parker, Vice President, Amazon Pharmacy.
Amazon works hard behind the scenes to handle complications seamlessly so anyone who needs a prescription can understand their options, place their order for the lowest available price, and have their medication delivered quickly.
Through its new online prescription medication ordering service, customers can now add insurance information, select payment options, and manage their pharmacy profile. Not only that, but Prime members are eligible for medication delivery in 2 days and can also benefit from having generic drug discounts of up to 80% as well as 40% on brand-name medications when paying without insurance. Amazon assures that its new service will have a comparison option for the customers to see if it is cheaper to pay through insurance or to rely on Prime discounts instead.
“We understand the importance of access to affordable medication, and we believe Prime members will find tremendous value with the new Amazon Prime prescription savings benefit,” said Jamil Ghani, Vice President, Amazon Prime. “Our goal is for Prime to make members’ lives easier and more convenient every day, and we’re excited to extend the incredible savings, seamless shopping experience, and fast, free delivery members know and love with Prime to Amazon Pharmacy.”
P, patients can ask their doctors to send prescriptions straight to Amazon Pharmacy, and also use the platform to request advice from pharmacists over the phone: Friendly and knowledgeable pharmacists are available 24/7 to answer questions about medications.
Amazon’s expansion of its medicine shop is not a recent occurrence though. Two years ago, the American multinational company bought the online pharmacy PillPack while last year it launched a brand of over-the-counter medications, and in summer this year it presented Halo, a health and wellness wristband.
As more and more people look to complete everyday errands from home, pharmacy is an important, and needed addition to the Amazon online store, commented Doug Herrington, Senior Vice President of North American Consumer at Amazon.
PillPack has provided exceptional pharmacy service for individuals with chronic health conditions for over six years. Now, Amazon is expanding its pharmacy offering to amazon.com, which will help more customers save time, save money, simplify their lives, and feel healthier.
