Not a fan of turning your house into a tech facility? No problem! You don’t have to bring Alexa or Google Assistant into your house yet. CES 2018 is a great opportunity to check out what’s coming in terms of cars, kitchen appliances and cool TVs and sound systems. From LG to Sony and Amazon, you’ll get the chance to find top-notch sound bars capable of offering the ultimate audio experience: DTS Virtual:X #soundmagic
DTS, an Xperi Corporation brand, is going to have a strong presence at CES this year. Aside from its dedicated booth, where the company is going to reveal new audio solutions, you’ll run into them at various OEM corners.
For example, at LG and Sony’s booths. As you recall, Yamaha YAS-207 was the first to feature Virtual;X, showing off an immersive home experience without the need for additional speakers. Think about it: a cinematic sound experience coming from just one device, not multiple units!
Now, LG will introduce SK6Y, a new sound bar with the Virtual:X solution, while Sony will add support for DTS:X on the popular HT-S T5000 speaker. Sony is also planning a new line-up of DTS:X-enabled A/V receivers this year. Other manufacturers that are integrating DTS:X in their line-up are Amazon (The Phorus PS10 DTS Play-Fi), Creative Labs (X5) and Hisense (HS512s).
For outside events, Soundcast has developed the world’s first wireless outdoor speaker, VG10, with DTS Play-Fi technology.
You’ll also hear talk of DTS in the virtual reality space, if you happen to be there (and we know you will). The new R-8 and R-9 Smartglasses from ODG are using DTS:X® Ultra 1.0 audio technology, as well as depth sensing technology from FotoNation for an authentic visual and sound experience.
Those of you who have more conference time than alone time will be pleased to know that efforts are being put in that direction, too. vTime, the VR experience that reunites up to four people in a virtual meeting room, is now counting on 3D audio support from DTS. Just grab your Android, PC or Windows Mixed Reality headset and log in.
Needless to say, it’s going to be an interesting CES this year, so stay tuned as we round up the hottest trends and launches next week from Las Vegas!
