Microsoft Reportedly Working On Chrome Replacement for Edge

The Microsoft Edge browser, while it has a number of nice features and was designed to be lightweight, it did come with a number of issues when it was released, issues which did not help to pull away the users from its rivals. This resulted in, according to Windows Central, Microsoft allegedly deciding finally to scrap the Edge altogether and decide to work on a new web brower.

This all-new browser, dubbed Anaheim, will be replacing the Edge as the platform default and will be built on Chrome’s open source engine, Blink.

If the rumor does prove to be true, having a browser based on Chrome could allow Microsoft to deliver unique experiences for the Window users and it will probably prove to be useful to web developers as well, since their pages will behave pretty much in the same way as they would in Chrome.

At the moment though, there are close to no details concerning Anaheim, but Windows Central expects Microsoft to release some official statements about it in the next few weeks.

Of course, we’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out more.
