Currant is a Palo Alto startup whose goal is to create smart home devices that reduce energy consumption. Their latest product is an AI-powered Smart Outlet.
The outlet works hand in hand with a companion app available for both Android and iOS which records power usage in real time and organizes it by hour, day, month and year and provides the users with personalized energy-saving recommendations.
It is also capable of detecting appliances that draw a low amount of power over extended periods of time. It will let you know about it and suggests which ones should be turned off.
It has two outlets that are independently controlled and a plate that can switch directions so as to keep the cords out of the way and also comes with a high safety rating – the highest of any smart outlet, according to Currant.
The Smart Outlet comes in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi variants that start at $49 and $59 and they are available from Amazon or the Currant official website.
