Airbnb cleaning fees, one of the most annoying parts about using the service, are finally getting less annoying.
In a move that many asked for for years, Airbnb will let you browse for accommodation by the total price of the booking with no more hidden cleaning fees.
Until now, Airbnb hosts posted low accommodation prices so that they could game the platform algorithm and come out on top, making money on hidden cleaning fees.
With this change, you’ll be able to browse by the total price, including cleaning, so that there are no more unpleasant surprises.
Airbnb chief Brian Chesky announced the new feature on Twitter and shared a video showing the Airbnb “display total price” option toggled on.
Chesky also went on to say “we are prioritizing total price (instead of nightly price) in our search ranking algorithm” and that “the highest quality homes with the best total prices will rank higher in search results.”
Airbnb’s chief said that the new feature will roll out this December, so looking for holiday accommodation will be easier.
