As MWC Shanghai 2018 is kicking into gear, Ford Motor and Baidu just joined forces “to transform the mobility ecosystem and create the next-generation in-vehicle experience for consumers,” as stated by Ya-Qin Zhang, Baidu’s president.

The strategic partnership between Ford Motor and China’s search engine giant aims to develop artificial intelligence and smart connectivity in cars. Essentially, Ford will incorporate Baidu’s voice-interaction system DuerOS in infotainment systems and digital services for all Ford vehicles sold in China.
Because DuerOS is a conversational AI platform with voice recognition and natural language understanding, Ford cars will essentially get a personal assistant embedded in the dashboard.
This partnership also aims to “evaluate technologies and big data to explore opportunities related to targeted digital marketing.”
