Bang & Olufsen have done it again! The new Beosound Explore speakers blows the competition away in terms of battery life.
At regular listening volumes, the Bang & Olufsen Beosound Explore can go for about 27 hours. It charges in around 2 hours.
To put that battery life into perspective, the huge Ultimate Ears’ UE Hyperboom speaker can go for up to 24 hours. You’d say that maybe the size is to blame but even the JBL Charge 5, which is of a comparable size, lasts for 20 hours on a single charge.
Why does the Beosound Explore have such a good battery life?
Bang and Olufsen explained to The Verge that it’s thanks to the new Bluetooth 5.2 standard, which is more power efficient, and to the internal layout of the speaker itself, optimized to make the most of the 2,400 mAh battery.
The battery life certainly seems in line with the other products from this company. The last time we heard from them, we were impressed with their Beoplay HX headphones for having a 35 hour battery life.
As for the rest of the Beosound Explore speaker specs, they’re about what you’d expect from a Bluetooth speaker.
It has an IP67 water resistance rating, so it can handle some splashes and a short dip. It can also be paired in stereo if you have two of them and charges using USB-C.
The Beosound Explore is available right now in black and green and will launch in gray this summer.
