Fans looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077 will have to wait even longer as the game is now postponed.
Earlier today on Twitter, the official Cyberpunk account announced that the game would now release on November 19th. The game was originally scheduled to release in March or April but was pushed to September to give developers more time.
According to the message, the delay isn’t to give developers more time to create content. In fact, the game is “finished both content and gameplay-wise.” Instead, the additional two months will offer developers time to “properly go through everything, balance game mechanics, and fix a lot of bugs.” It appears, however, that journalists will get access to an early build of the game to play and preview the game.
Perhaps an unattended consequence of this delay, the new release date puts the game’s release in line with the expected release dates of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Although neither console have a set release date, a mid-November launch would work with the presumed holiday launch schedule. Unofficially, Cyberpunk 2077 could be a launch title or at least could have a cross-generational release.
