Evo Championship Series Has Been Cancelled

PC: Evo

Public health and safety have been a priority during this COVID-19 pandemic. Because of fears of the virus, Evo, one of the biggest gaming tournaments, has announced they will be cancelling their event.

Announced in a tweet, the premier fighting game championship has been officially cancelled. For fans worried about tickets and hotel reservations, Evo did note that all arena tickets and hotel reservations will be automatically refunded.

Usually set at Mandalay Bay, the tournament will now be held online in some form. However, it should be noted that most games of the list – Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Tekken 7, Soul Calibur 6, etc. – have poor online functionality. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, for example, has such bad lag and buffer in the online version that fans got #FixUltimateOnline trending on Twitter.

More news will come about what this online event will look like.
