Welcome to Extraordinary Tech 2018 Day 14. Join Buchanan, Joelle, Mike and myself on our adventures as we test out some of the best tech available in 2018. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we’ll be showcasing devices that came with us on a cross-country trip this summer, ranging from an outdoor speaker that will change the way you think of sound to a smartwatch that offers the best fitness features at an affordable price. Along the way, we’ll be hosting giveaways of some of the tech featured in this series, so stay tuned!
I had never gone scuba diving before. But I was excited.
An underwater world surrounded by schools of rainbow colored fish, floating in the golden light filtering in from majestic kelp forests, sounded like one of the most peaceful and mysterious places to be. If we were lucky, we’d be able to see stingrays and small sharks.
Yet, this wasn’t the world I saw after I dived in. My goggles fogged, rendering the underwater world hazy. I spent most of my time reminding myself to breathe slowly, to adjust to the pressure, but ended up unable to equalize the pressure and floundered around near the surface.
My scuba experience was a mix of frustration and regret, knowing how much more I could have experienced.
Until I remembered we brought the GoPro Hero 6 along.
Thanks to that tiny action camera, I got to watch everything I imagined and more. The serenity of that underwater world was captured so perfectly with the Hero 6! Every fish I felt pass by me was caught on camera in stunning high definition; not even the air bubbles in Buchanan’s hair were missed.
FotoNation’s HDR made the world vibrant and real to me in a way to that I could not have perceived while I struggled scuba diving
But the GoPro went much further than capturing an experience in high definition – it turned it into an unforgettable adventure. The joy in our eyes as we paraglided in Santa Barbara can be relived over and over thanks to the fidelity of the image.
Truly, the only way to describe the GoPro Hero 6 is:
Dynamic. Vivid. Exceptional.
Or, take the candid words of our scuba diving video assistant: “Wow this is unbelievable!!!”
BOTTOM LINE:
GoPro has made a name for themselves thanks to their durable and versatile action cameras. If most of the tech explored in this series asks, “where’s technology going next?” the GoPro instead asks, “Where’s your next adventure?”
Just talk to our videographer, Mike Dewey. Enthralled by the endless capture possibilities of the GoPro, he sent one up in space, winning a National Geographic Best Picture Award.
Thanks to upgraded HDR and auto face focus technology from FotoNation, you can capture almost anything, anywhere. The limits lie in your imagination.
So, where’s your next adventure?
The Extraordinary Tech series was produced in partnership with Xperi. We were not compensated by GoPro for this review. The GoPro Hero 6 is available at amazon.com starting at $325.20.
