Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is a beast, no doubt about that. When it came out, during the company’s Unpacked event, its 6.4-inch Infinity Display, 4,000 mAh battery, Snapdragon 845 or Exynos 10nm processor and 512 GB storage support turned it into an instant powerhouse. But what about the phone’s features that are more about quality than quantity? We went at IFA to find out.
The City Cube was brimming with people and energy so the moment we had an opening, we made a beeline for the Note 9. We started playing with the camera and as it turns out, thanks to AI, there’s no room for human error anymore.
Instead of reviewing an outdoor selfie at the shadow of a tree, the Note 9’s AI can tell you if it’s overly backlit and unsuitable for Instagram, for example.
The same feature – Flaw Detection – warns you when one of you blinked and you need to take another group selfie.
The software is also capable of detecting blurry shots and camera smudges you might miss with your glasses off.
Basically, there’s no room for mistakes or excuses – the camera is doing everything it can to give you that flawless selfie!
And not just the camera, either. All of us were surprised by the S-Pen, the smart stylus which now Note 9 can use as a remote. You don’t need to extend your hand to get a good picture or carry your selfie stick around. Click the S-Pen and voila! your selfie is saved to camera roll on the go.
Today’s lesson? The spec sheet is not everything. The way different features work together to make the most out of your experience is maybe even more important. At IFA Berlin, we understood what a great camera software and accessory like S-Pen can do together.
