If we had to name our favorite robot from all the ones we’ve seen so far, we’d say… Geta. This is the name of a smart parking robot from Shenzen that will put our parallel parking nightmares to rest #machinemagic
Geta is a laser-guided platform that slides under the vehicle, picks it up and then squeezes it in the tightest of spots. There’s no room for (human) error, because a computer finds the spaces where vehicles can fit in, after receiving Geta’s real-time data. In just 2 minutes, the robot can park any car without damaging it or getting into quarrels with other drivers. It doesn’t need tracks, has 360 degrees mobility and will maximize any small space.
Marco Wu, CEO of Yee Fung – the company that created Geta -, has high hopes for the robot as more cities are having difficulties with parking spaces: “There are many companies interested in our products, such as commercial property companies in Singapore and London, public parking companies in the Middle East, and developers, governments, as well as public parking companies in China.”
Unfortunately, Geta can’t be your personal parking valet as it costs more than 1 million yuan ($150,000), but it will surely work great in government-owned or private parking spaces.
