Hertz has announced recently that it will partner up with biometric airport security company Clear in an attempt to speed up the car rental process at airports.
The companies have already set up the “Hertz Fast Lane powered by Clear” at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta. At the moment, the service will only be available to the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Program members who will have to enroll with Clear separately and pay extra if they want to use the faster access.
The biometric checkouts will allow the program members to bypass the counter and simply pick up their car and drive to the exit gate where the Clear biometric scanners will read either their faces or fingerprints. If the data matches, the gates will open. The entire process should take around two minutes.
If all goes according to plan, the companies want to expand the biometric fast lane to other locations in 2019, such as the Los Angeles International Airport and the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
