After the Samsung Infinity O display with a corner camera cutout leaked, Huawei followed suit. Twitter user Ice Universe spotted an official Huawei teaser on Weibo in which you can clearly see a circular cutout where the camera is housed.
In the race to a true bezel-less smartphone display, phone makers resorted to notches for almost every flagship launched this year. Now, with two of the major vendors going for the circular camera cutout, it’s safe to say that 2019 will see a lot of holes in displays.
If Samsung and Huawei are choosing this screen design to house the selfie camera and increase screen real estate, it’s very likely more companies will follow in their footsteps. How pleased will be the consumers?
Well, that’s up for debate. If you recall, when the notch trend first started, many spoke against it, so there’s definitely a possibility that the same thing will come to happen when flagships with holes in their screens hit the market.
The only question now is, which one would you prefer for an eyesore: the notch or the hole below?
