Hong Kong-based company Infinix has launched an entry-level smartphone called Hot 8. While it is a budget device, don’t let that, or its price, fool you – the handset actually brings in some more than decent specs, considering.
Commenting on the launch, Anish Kapoor, Infinix India CEO has said in a press release that the smartphone is “a perfect blend of style, convenience and performance at a pocket friendly price. The success of the Hot series lies in giving our fans #AlotExtra. By introducing several category first features to the sub Rs. 8k segment, the HOT 8 truly reflects Infinix’s philosophy of democratizing the best in smartphone technology for the masses.”
To begin with, it has a 6.5 inch HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels, a 20:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass. Housed in the waterdrop notch, you’ll find an 8MP camera with an aperture rating of f/2.0 and an 81 degree field of view as well as an LED flash. Camera features include AI cam, AR shot, bokeh and beauty mode.
All around the camera we can find nothing but very slim bezels. Screen-to-body ratio-wise, you’ll be impressed: a whooping 90.3%, with a 269ppi pixel density.
On the back, the primary camera is a 13MP with an aperture ratio of f/1.8 and a 2MP depth sensor and a low-light sensor to help the users capture better images at night.
Under the hood, we’ll find an octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 processor alongside 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, all expandable up to 256GB via microSD.
The smartphone has Android 9.0 Pie based XOS 5.0 out of the box. The 5,000mAh battery has an AI power management feature to enhance battery life. Other features include a fingerprint scanner on the back, dual-SIM 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, OTG, microUSB and a 3.5mm port.
The device will go on sale as of September 12th as an exclusive on Flipkart with a price tag of just (wait for it) around $97, after conversion. On October 31st however, the phone will become available for around $111.
