JBL Smart Display With Google Assistant Is Available Now

Smart displays are all the rage nowadays and JBL wants in on the fun. The company just announced the $250 JBL Link View, which comes with all the conversational benefits of Google Assistant.

Fitted with an 8-inch touchscreen, a 5 MP camera for video calls and dual 10W speakers, it could be a great staple in the kitchen, especially since the body is splash-proof. Even better, for privacy enthusiasts, JBL included a Privacy Switch feature that kills both the camera shutter and the microphone.

Just like other offerings from companies like Lenovo or Amazon, the JBL Smart Display uses the Google Android Things OS and offers helpful replies, recipes or Youtube videos.

JBL already has the Link View on pre-order on its website and will start shipping these devices on September 3. This is the second device from JBL that runs Google Assistant this year, as the company combined Google’s smart assistant with Android TV in the JBL Link Bar.

It seems that Google Assistant is not winning the race on smarts alone, but also on the sheer amount of devices that support it.
