If there’s one thing even women that love to splurge on make-up fail at is… finding the perfect shade of foundation. It’s not their fault – it all comes back to the limited number of foundation shades that don’t do justice to all the skin tones in the world. So, two companies partnered up to give their users the easiest way to find their unique shade and purchase it, through a mobile app #mobilemagic
Shiseido and MATCHCo teamed up to launch a new foundation called bareMinerals Made-2-Fit Fresh Faced Foundation. Nothing out of the ordinary so far. Only, unlike most brands out there that offer a limited number of foundation formulae, this one can be molded to suit any skin tone in the world. To do that, it first has to figure out what is the precise skin tone of said users. That’s where a mobile app comes in the picture.
bareMinerals MADE-2-FIT Foundation makeup match iPhone app (I know, it’s a mouthful) is free on App Store. Once you download it, all you’ll have to do is follow the directions. First, the app is going to ask you to calibrate. To do so, you scan a piece of white paper several times and then, put the phone camera close to your inner wrist to complete the process.
Now comes the good part. Scan your face, starting with the forehead, cheeks and jawline, and wait for an AI makeup artist to reach a verdict. The app should have your result in seconds and the product recommendation. If you decide to purchase it – one bottle costs $49 -, you’ll find it delivered to your door in three days. The bottle will have your name on it to emphasize the fact that this particular shade is unique.
You can find the app here, free of charge.
