Nothing held a digital show where it unveiled its next product line and talked more in depth about the smartphone we’re going to see at some point this summer, as well as a few other Nothing-adjacent bits and bobs that will accompany the release.
This phone is the creation of One Plus co-founder Carl Pei, who confirmed the device will be released this year.
He didn’t release a lot of information regarding the design of the phone, but judging by the teasers, we will most likely see it arrive with a transparent case.
Software-wise, it will come with the usual stock Android with a proprietary skin on top and will not feature a lot of pre-installed apps on the device, so as to leave the user with as much choice as possible. The UI will have a dark and a light theme and the launcher will be called Nothing OS launcher.
In short, the Nothing OS aims to combine the best features of Android and strip down the system to the bare essentials. This way, the users will be able to enjoy a fluid and seamless experience with dynamic colors and custom graphic elements.
This custom OS will be fully customizable, the clock, widgets and other top items will stay in the same places when the phone is in always-on display mode.
Carl Pei also mentioned that, alongside the launch of the smartphone, the company will also unveil the Nothing Ecosystem, which will consist of many proprietary gadgets and third party products, with the aim to provide the users with an Apple-like experience.

In addition, the CEO announced the ” Nothing Community “, a hub designed for public investment. More on this will be announced in due time.
Carl Pei made us all quite curious about this upcoming smartphone and we’ll hear more about it in the weeks to follow. As always, we’ll keep you posted.
