OnePlus Nord 2: A Mid-Range Device With Premium Features

OnePlus

The new OnePlus Nord 2, the Chinese smartphone that promises super features at an affordable price, has now been officially announced.

We received plenty of information about the device in the weeks prior, so there were few surprises to be had.
However, here is the run-down of what looks like a very promising device that might become a fan favorite.

The OnePlus Nord 2 has a 6.43 inch 1080 x 2400 AMOLED screen where we’ll find a 32MP selfie snapper. On the back, we’ll find a trio made out of an 8MP ultra-wide, a 2MP mono camera, and a 50MP main camera.

The smartphone can shoot up to 4K quality at 30 frames per second and, according to OnePlus, there have been a few improvements in night mode as well, so you will be able to take good pictures in dark environments.

Under the hood, we’ll find a MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI chipset that, according to the company, delivers 65% faster CPU performance and 125% better GPU performance than the previous OnePlus Nord. There are claims that the chipset, which is exclusive to OnePlus, is comparable to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870.

You can choose your storage variants from 6GB RAM with 128GB of storage 8GB RAM with 128GB of storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB of storage. The first option, however, will only be available in India.

The battery is a 4,500mAh that comes with 65W fast charging support and can, according to OnePlus, bring the smartphone from zero to 100% in just 30 minutes. Unfortunately, there is no wireless charging available and the device is not waterproof either.

Other specs include Wi-Fi 6, an under-display fingerprint scanner, dual stereo speakers, 5G support, and Android 11 out of the box. The device will have two major operating system updates as well as three years’ worth of security updates.

The Nord 2 will not be available worldwide and it seems to be, at least for the time being, restricted to Europe (this includes the UK) and India. It’s not available in either the U.S or Australia.

It will be available for pre-sale as of July 26 and comes in color options like Grey Sierra, Blue Haze, and Green Wood.
