As IFA 2018 draws nearer so does Oppo F9, Oppo’s flagship who could very well be the first smartphone with Gorilla Glass 6 screen.
Corning announced today that Gorilla Glass 6, the toughest one yet, will make its appearance first on an Oppo device. Seeing how the Chinese company will launch the Oppo F9 and Oppo F9 Pro flagships at the end of this month, it’s safe to say that their generous screens will be well protected.
The new Gorilla Glass 6 can withstand multiple drops from 1 meter without cracking and it’s much more scratch resistant than its predecessor, Gorilla Glass 5.
“We are excited to be the first to adopt Gorilla Glass 6 on our upcoming smartphone, and we believe that consumers around the globe will enjoy an unprecedented experience,” said Andy Wu, Oppo’s VP.
With this quote, it’s almost a certainty that Oppo F9 will feature Gorilla Glass 6 on its impressive 6.3-inch 1080 x 2280 px display. According to the latest leak, the Oppo F9 specs include a generous 25 MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture alongside a 16 MP rear main camera with f/1.85 aperture and a secondary 2 MP one that will showcase bokeh in a big way, as well as panoramas, supported by FotoNation imaging tech.
Running ColorOS 5.2 on Android 8.1, the Oppo F9 is powered by MediaTek Helio P60 chipset coupled with 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage and a 3,500 mAh battery.
In any case, while the specs make sense, they are not yet confirmed. Let’s see what happens at IFA 2018 and we’ll bring back all the essential details on this flagship and Oppo’s other offerings.
