Just when we thought we’ve seen it all in terms of pop-up selfie cameras, Oppo proves us wrong.
Slashleaks managed to get their hands on a few photos and a video that show the Oppo Reno with a wedge-like pop-up selfie camera. While the design seems a little strange, it does make sense if you really think about it. A lot of people have complained about the fact that pop-up cameras on smartphones are often prone to damage, as they are fragile and not very structurally-sound.
It looks like Oppo’s answer to these concerns is the camera we can see in the photos below. It also looks like, thanks to its unusual design, the camera has now enough space to also feature a speaker and a front-facing flash.
From both the photos and the video we can tell that the phone will have an USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and two cameras on the back.
The phone might prove to be a mid-range device and will most likely not feature the notorious 10x zoom the company introduced during the MWC this year.
Regardless if you like the design or absolutely hate it, we have to give Oppo a few extra points for coming up with a completely unique idea in an attempt to get us rid of the long-dreaded notch.
