Overwatch 2 Lego Set Delayed Due to Activision Controversy

PC: Activision Blizzard

LEGO has announced they are delaying the release of an Overwatch 2-themed LEGO set as it reviews their relationship to Activision Blizzard.

Announced on The Brick Fan (via VGC), LEGO released a statement confirmed they will “pause the release of a LEGO Overwatch 2 product which was due to go on sale on February 1, 2022.” This LEGO set looked to include two of the game’s major playable characters, Tracer and Mei, as well as an enemy Titan figure. LEGO cited the “continuing allegations regarding workplace culture, especially the treatment of female colleagues and creating a diverse and inclusive environment” as reasons for the pause.

During the summer of 2021, Activision Blizzard was sued by the State of California for sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation against women. Since then, current and former employees have begun speak out more publicly and have demanded the company address its problematic culture. Activision Blizzard has further been accused of attempting to interfere with the investigation.

It is unclear if and when the LEGO set will be on sale. As mentioned, Activision Blizzard has failed to properly address the situation and litigation is still ongoing.
