Uhh…Call of Duty Season 5 Gets Nicki Minaj As Playable Character

Activision is pulling all the stops for Call of Duty Season 5, adding Nicky Minaj as a playable character.

Joining CoD’s “50 Years of Hip Hop Celebration,” the rapper will join Snoop Dogg and 21 Savage. Activision emphasizes she’ll also be “Call of Duty’s first-ever self-named female Operator”.

“Now in Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone, she’s ready to make all rival Operators pound the alarm, as Nicki Minaj has her own Store Bundle, perfect for those who think they have good form across Battle Royale, DMZ, Multiplayer, and Special Ops,” says Activision in the latest blog post.

As you can see in a video from last year, the COD community isn’t exactly excited about the celebrity features in Call of Duty. Even though the video includes other popular artists like Lil Baby and Pete Davidson, the response has been…lukewarm at best.

Scroll as far as you can go and you’ll only see comments like “This is the most how do you do, fellow kids? moment Cod has ever had” or “When your game is rated M for mature but the trailer appeals to 9 year olds.”

For those who are however excited about the new additions, Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone will launch on August 2 at 9 AM PT on all platforms.
