The race to launch a foldable smartphone is not slowing down any time soon, as a new patent revealed the foldable Samsung Galaxy X.
This flagship has been rumored to launch since MWC 2017 but so far, Samsung has been mum about the whole affair. Until today, when one patent revealed not just one foldable smartphone, but two!
At a glance, the first model looks like any other smartphone but it actually folds right down the middle of the display. With the Samsung Galaxy X, you’ll be able to see an app on the entirety of the screen, or run multiple apps on both sides.
That’s not all. Something even more exciting can be seen at a closer look: a trifold-shaped phone, just like the one Microsoft suggested for the Surface phone.
The second model is a lot longer than a regular smartphone and can fold like a wallet. Even better, you can use one of the display sections as a support, interacting with the other two, or you can fold it in a triangular shape and see just one section.
The latest rumors point to a 2018 or early 2019 foldable Samsung Galaxy X launch. Of course, Apple is also fighting to bring a foldable iPhone but it will likely happen later on; some say in 2020, if all goes well.
If you really want a foldable smartphone, the only option on the market is the ZTE Axon M, but that one looks mostly like two smartphones pieced together.
