Boxing is a combination of instinct and strategy, with most real fights ending up being more unpredictable than imagined. That’s why a company devised a wearable that can bring some stats to the battle field, making fighters more aware of what they can give on the ring.
Hykso wrist sensor technology monitors strikes and punches in real time to provide data that can help athletes and trainers customize their sessions better. With a two 3-axis accelerometers (one F1 grade and one low-g) and a 3-axis gyroscope, the system can measure the speed of your moves, the intensity of your punches and how many times you touch your opponent. It can also recognize the type of punches you throw like in a Mortal Kombat game.
To fully charge it you have to wait four hours, after which it can transmit the data recorded using Bluetooth Low Energy technology. This, in return, arrives on a mobile app. So far, 35 gyms let their fighter try the device and it was even used by WBA world champion Javier Fortuna and undefeated pro Omar Figueroa.
The results were impressive so now, any athlete can buy the wearable for $153, for a limited time.
