Before the Pot Plant Charger went on IndieGogo, another team thought of a earth-friendly solution for keeping smartphones charged all day, when there’s no plug nearby – like it always happens at music festivals. Kaleidoscope came up with the idea of a solar tent #objectmagic
Together with telecommunication giant Orange, they imagined a solar-powered tent that could provide more than just shelter at the Glastonbury annual music festival. Their concept involved 3 banks of photovoltaic cells that could generate power during the day, while keeping the tent cool and out of direct sunlight. Oriented from East to West, it would attract maximum sun exposure that could be converted in electricity for devices, via an indoor powerbar. At night, the extra solar power garnered could generate electricity for other purposes.
Best of all? The tent was configured to accommodate comfortably 4 adults in a breathable environment, thanks to the tent’s screen windows for ventilation.
The concept was so cool and promising, that we’re still hoping it becomes a reality soon enough, as more companies, including Apple, invest in renewable energy.
