As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be largely uncontained, all aspects of “normal” life have been postponed. In the gaming world, that has meant large summer conferences like E3 and GDC have been canceled. Following these announcement, the Tokyo Game Show has also announced it would cancel its in-person conference.

In a press release, the event organizers stated that the Tokyo Game Show (TGS2020) would not hold its traditional in-person format due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Instead, TGS2020 will be putting on an online show.

The cancellation of TGS2020 makes it one of the latest physical events to cancel. Most events that have been canceled were originally schedule for the summer months (June – August). Scheduled for September 24th – 27th, TGS2020 would be one of the first events canceled for the early fall/late 2020.

More information will be released on their website and through press releases starting in late May.
