You can see the world backpacking or… you can save money for a floating home boat in the shape of an UFO. Bonus: it will save your life in a zombie apocalipse scenario (remember the Fear The Walking Dead sea journey?) We’re talking about UFO, a genius concept from yacht-maker Jet Capsule #objectmagic
The Unidentified Floating Object is a saucer-shaped, fully sustainable floating home that doubles as a boat with a maximum speed of 3.5 knots (6.5 km/h, 4 mph) if you want to travel the world. The motor is connected to a battery fueled by solar energy from 430 sq. ft. of solar panels in a lid/home roof. Moreover, the concept includes wind and water turbines located at the top and below of the UFO.
Two half-spherical shells of fiberglass cover the two stories of the house, where you will find a kitchen, dining/living area (top level) and 107-sq. ft. of bedroom and bath area on the bottom of the UFO. To sustain life, the floating home is equipped with water generator that supplies fresh water from rainwater and seawater and can keep a vegetable garden green and productive on the deck.
But can the home sail safe and stable? Well, the designers from Jet Capsule think it can with an elastic anchor system. All in all, the prototype should cost $800.000 but the following homes could be produced for $200.000.
