WeChat, China’s most popular instant messaging service, is used by more than 100 million Chinese citizens for many casual functions like chatting or sending money to a friend. Now, WeChat just added a more serious service to its lineup, introducing a “divorce” feature that will be tested in cities like Guangzhou and Shenzen.

Those who’ve decided they want to leave their marriage can simply make an appointment with the local divorce registration office right from inside the WeChat App. In the documents area of the app, right under Marriage, some users spotted a “divorce” option. Once clicked, the button asks for the names and addresses of the persons who want to divorce, then allows them to make an appointment to start the procedures.

WeChat is famous for its varied functions, like managing taxes and storing driving permits or other sensitive documents like passwords. If they team up with Emotibot, one of the most promising startups in the area, they could even add a marriage counseling feature on the app!
