Still waiting for the Apple AirTags? Samsung got the hint and raced to the market with their own take on the Tile trackers (and Apple’s long anticipated and rumored gadgets).
Meet the Samsung SmartTag+, which you’ll get for free if you pre-order the newly-unveiled Samsung Galaxy S21 in the first two weeks.
Yes, that’s right.
The Samsung SmartTags isn’t just an announcement for a far-in-the-future project, they’re here already.
You’ll be able to buy one for $30 come January 29th, along with the Galaxy S21 phones.
While they don’t revolutionize anything, being a regular Bluetooth tracker, the Samsung SmartTags do come with the advantage of being in the Samsung SmartThings ecosystem.
If you own multiple Samsung devices, these are for you.
Samsung also said that, while the first SmartTag device only has Bluetooth, so it can’t tell you just far out the item you misplaced is, they will launch a follow-up later this year.
The SmartTag+ will go for $40 and will come with ultra-wideband (UWB), the same tech rumored to be included in Apple AirTags.
Since both the Galaxy S21+ and the S21 Ultra have UWB, this is a match made in heaven.
