The Xbox team has been pretty consistent with their announcements on their Xbox Series X thus far. So it should come as no surprise that they are continuing their trend of transparency. Beginning Thursday, Xbox will be dropping monthly updates in what they are calling “Xbox 20/20.”
Detailed in an extensive blog post, Xbox team started by outlining the difficulties given the COVID-19 pandemic of trying to develop a new system and getting news out there. However, even given the circumstances, the Xbox team wanted to ensure players that they were
- Still working to launch both the Xbox Series X and Halo Infinite during the 2020 Holiday season
- Development teams, in and out of Xbox Game Studios, are working to develop games for the platform
- PC users will still have access to major Xbox Series X titles, like Halo Infinite, through Xbox Game Pass
- Project xCloud, their mobile device game streaming platform, is still actively being expanded upon
Additionally, the post elaborates on their monthly news update platform they are calling Xbox 20/20. Xbox 20/20 will provide updates on some, or all, of the items listed above via digital distribution. The first Xbox 20/20 will include gameplay from the Xbox Series X, trailers for games, sneak peaks, and other games that will use the Smart Delivery feature. All games shown during the May Xbox 20/20 will be optimized for the Series X.
The company also gave a brief note on the July Xbox 20/20, where they “will dedicate time to focus on the incredible games coming from Xbox Game Studios.
