Xiaomi just entered a deal with Meitu, a Chinese smartphone brand famous in the West for selfie software and flashy hardware, and will start making Meitu-branded smartphones.
That means Xiaomi-made Meitu smartphones will probably start showing up outside of China, just like what happened when Xiaomi partnered with Pocophone for the spectacular Pocophone F1.
Under this deal, Xiaomi will handle the hardware production, OS and marketing, while Meitu will focus on its image processing software, especially the on the beautification front.
Those looking for really beautiful selfies and flashy smartphone design should keep an eye on the new Meitu with three-front cameras that just surfaced yesterday on TENAA.
For those willing to take it to the extreme, the Meitu T9 is available in an eye-popping Sailor Moon edition, complete with selfie stick and extra light.
Something tells us Xiaomi won’t extend that design to the new Meitu smartphones they will build but who knows, perhaps they’ll import the older, flashier models.
