As WWDC approaches, Apple’s annual developers’ conference, leaks about the new M1X Mac Mini have shown up online. Details regarding the number and type of ports the device would have, materials used and overall size have given tipsters the opportunity to come up with revealing renders. Here’s how the M1X Mac Mini will likely look.
Trustworthy tipster Jon Prosser gathered all the rumors regarding the new Mac and put them together in a render that looks sleek and lightweight. Considering the new Mac will use Apple’s next gen Silicon chipset, chances are it’s going to be significantly smaller.
The new Silicon chip should sport no less than 12 CPU cores, compared to the 8 cores of its predecessor. However, it should still be based on 5nm production process and clocked at 3.2GHz.
Its top panel will also use plexiglass this time around, instead of the standard aluminum. Why? Probably so Apple can launch several, two-toned colored models like they did with the recent iMacs.
Here’s where it gets interesting. There are a plethora of ports to use, so Apple fans will have plenty to celebrate. I’m talking four USB 4.0/Thunderbolt 3 type-C ports here, two USB-A ports, HDMI, and ethernet, plus the magnetic power connector we’ve seen out and about since the M1-powered iMacs landed.
The M1X Mac Mini will replace the Intel-powered Mac Mini once it goes out in the wild. That’s expected to happen this June 7, when WWDC starts. During the Apple event, we’ll also have the chance to see the redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro’s.
