Elon Musk “Dying” to Make Tesla Pickup Truck

Tesla might have gotten slammed left and right this year but Elon Musk’s enthusiasm for new products hasn’t wavered.

Asked by a fan on Twitter if he ever considered making pickup trucks, Musk quickly replied that “I’m dying to make a pickup truck so bad … we might have a prototype to unveil next year,” starting yet another hype train.

Of course, if the prototype comes in 2019, that means a Tesla electric pickup won’t be here before 2020, even 2021.

The market for pickup trucks is huge in North America and so far competition for Tesla is pretty slim. The only announced electric pickup truck is the Rivian R1T, which should be here in 2020 as well, so the niche could prove to be a lucrative one for Musk’s company.

As Elon Musk had to step down as the chairman of Tesla, he definitely has more time to focus on innovation than before.

Of course, he also has the Boring Company to consider, now that it wants to revolutionize public transportation, not to mention SpaceX and its dream of affordable space travel.
