According to a post on Nintendo’s official Twitter account, the game needed more time to polish before releasing. Players will now have to wait a couple more months before they can get their hands on the remasters of the first two Advance War games.
Advance Wars is a beloved turn-based strategy franchise whose battle system was simple to get but hard to master. The success of the game in the West drove other tactics-based games to the West. Series like Fire Emblem certainly owe their success to Advance Wars as Nintendo had previously not released the series in the West fearing the market would not like the style of gameplay.
The first two games in the series were originally released on the Game Boy Advance. Re-Boot Camp was first announced in the Nintendo E3 2021 Direct, surprising many who thought the company had forgotten about the series.
Reimagined with new graphics and visuals, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp could reboot the series to its former glory when it releases Spring 2022.
