While we’re waiting for the AirPods 2 to arrive, we can still find new ways to improve the current version: Benjamin Farkas, for example, proposes a solution that will solve two of the most pressing problems of AirPods users, which are losing them and charging them.
Farkas has come up with a neckstrap, dubbed Air Wear, that he has attached a battery to which will turn the AirPods into wired earbuds for a limited amount of time.
The cable attaches magnetically to the AirPods and the Indiegogo campaign Farkas has created states that the Air Wear is basically the “only alternative [AirPods] charger on the market“.
If the AirWear does become a reality it would, indeed, be the first charger for the AirPods that is not a case.
If it would prove to be a good enough alternative, that is to be seen – we do know that a lot of AirPods users often lose or forget their charging case and, while the case might have a simple and compact design, it’s still too bulky to carry in a jeans or shirt pocket without it protruding through them.
The Air Wear campaign has two months to gather $50,000 in funding. At the time this article is being written, Farkas has collected $1,444, thanks to 49 backers.
If successful, Farkas plans to start delivering the chargers by March with early bird prices for it starting at $21, plus shipping costs.
