Professional musician David Bowie is a legend and his memory is certainly being honored by the tech industry. Last year, Elon Musk announced that a Tesla Roadster being launched to space will be playing Bowie’s “Space Oddity” and now, The New York Times just released a David Bowie Augmented Reality (AR) feature to their app that allows you to view Bowie’s famous, iconic, and eclectic outfits as if they were right in front of you. #realitymagic
Based on the “David Bowie Is” exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, the publisher intended for users to get a similar experience on their smartphones as they would at the exhibit. The entire AR experience of Bowie’s famous costumes is available via the New York Times app. The experience supports both Apple’s ARKit and Google’s ARCore so it works on either iOS or Android operating systems.
If your smartphone is unable to handle the feature, the New York Times posted an article which comes with a few 3D models of Bowie’s legendary attire. However, you may want to upgrade your mobile device soon since there’re plenty of amazing projects coming out soon such as The Walking Dead game.
