Green charging gadgets without solar power? The new Samsung Eco remotes charge using radio waves from your router.
If for CES 2021 Samsung had solar panels on remotes, now it’s taking the next step and allowing them to charge anywhere in the home, not just near a window.
Using radio frequency harvesting, the new Samsung TV remotes can draw small amounts of power using the radio waves emitted by other smart home items like Wi-Fi routers and more. They can also be charged faster using USB-C.
And, just like previous models, the new Eco Remote is made with recycled materials to boost its ‘green’ rating.
The new Samsung Eco remote will be included with all of the Samsung 2022 TV line-up, including those models featuring the NFT platform.
Last year, during their Earth Day 2021 celebrations, Samsung estimated that switching to solar-powered remotes could remove 99 million discarded batteries in 7 years, so that number can only go up with innovations such as these.
