Gorgeous Fossil Android Wear Watches Get New Chipset, New Features

Fossil Q Venture HR and Fossil Q Explorist HR

In the world of watch enthusiasts, Fossil has long been known as an affordable yet stylish option and the company is now expanding that reputation among smartwatch fans.

The latest Fossil Q watches step up the smartwatch features and add goodies like untethered GPS, NFC and heart rate monitors. The previous Fossil Q watches were essentially a hybrid smartwatch with an analog face and only step counting as a feature, but the Fossil Q Venture HR and Fossil Q Explorist HR use Android Wear to actually live up to the smartwatch tag.

Featuring 36 faces, they hide in the bezel the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 chip, alongside an altimeter and gyroscope sensor. It’s too bad that Fossil didn’t wait until September to use the latest Qualcomm chipset but, for the features included, the Snapdragon Wear 2100 will more than suffice.

Both the Fossil Q Venture HR and Fossil Q Explorist HR allow you to pay using Google Pay, store content for your next run and track your swims. They start at $255 and go up to $255, depending on what type of strap or band you want.
