No doubt about it, foldable phones are an appealing design – but what about their durability?
With previous foldable phones from most brands suffering from various issues around their hinge, Samsung took steps to assuage potential buyers’ fears.
Samsung just unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy ZFlip 3 as the first water-resistant foldable phones and also showed in a video just how much they get tested for durability before reaching the market.
According to Samsung, the Z Fold3 and the Z Flip3 have to be so tough, they can handle 200,000 folds without being damaged, so basically being opened and closed 100 times every day for more than five years.
Then, they’re put in environmental test chambers and tested in extreme weather conditions, from hot to cold or extremely humid to extremely dry.
And lastly, they take a dive in water.
