Huawei Mate 20 Lite Confirmed, Here’s What It Brings

Rumors and leaks have swirled around the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro for quite a while now. While the devices still haven’t been officially announced, Huawei decided to unveil their smaller brother.

The Huawei Mate 20 Lite is now already available for purchase in Poland, which gives us a look at its specs.

The notched display is a 6.3-inch Full HD+ offering with 2340 x 1080 px resolutioon and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Compared to its predecessor, the Mate 10 Lite, which offered a 76.4 percent screen-to-body ratio, the Mate 20 Lite bings a significant improvement, going up to 81 percent screen-to-body ratio.

On the specs front, it features Huawei’s first 12 nm chipset, the Kirin 710m, which should translate to significantly better performance and power consumption than the Kirin 659.

Just like last year’s Lite Mate, the Mate 20 Lite pairs 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage with microSD support of up to 256 GB, though a previous report indicated a 6 GB option as well.

For great selfies, Mate 20 Lite combines a 24 MP sensor with a 2 MP secondary shooter. On the back, you’ll find a 20 MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2 MP secondary one. For authentication purposes there’s a fingerprint sensor and also Face Unlock.

Huawei also replaced the microUSB found in Mate 10 Lite with an USB Type-C port. Also on the connectivity front you’ll be glad to see NFC support and dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz).

The Huawei Mate 20 Lite will ship with EMUI 8.2 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo, which means it will feature the much-anticipated GPU Turbo for performance enhancement. The device is powered by a 3,750 mAh battery with fast charge. Right now, the only pricing available is for Poland, where the device is already launched. What we do know is that the Mate 20 Lite will start at roughly $440.

If you want to spend more, the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will both be officially launched on October 16.
