Huawei has talked about its “breakthrough technology” GPU Turbo that dramatically increases the Graphics Processing Efficiency on smartphones to let them run high-end games without killing battery life.
In numbers, GPU Turbo increases graphics processing efficiency by 60% and also reduces SoC power consumption by 30%, something that will definitely get gamers’ attention!
Huawei’s GPU Turbo is being deployed as part of the EMUI 8.1 beta testing in China, which will start with 2,000 owners of Huawei P20s and P20 Pros.
Afterward, according to GizmoChina, the beta will extend to the Huawei Mate line, Honor V10 and Honor 10. Honor 9i, Honor 9, Honor V9 and Honor Play 7X will soon follow. In all other markets, EMUI 8.1 will start testing in August.
If all goes well and Huawei curries favor with gamers, who knows, perhaps the 200 million shipped devices in 2018 target that Huawei set for itself could even be surpassed.
