In a strange turn of events, a recent Nintendo Switch update was pushed out to the public, halted, and then re-released again.
According to Nintendo Life, Nintendo Switch system update ver. 12.0.3 was released on June 7th. Like many of the releases recently, this firmware update did not really change much and focused on “stability.”
However, in a strange turn of events, Nintendo pulled the system update on June 8th. Effectively, this meant some Switch owners did not have access to the latest firmware. Twitter announcements from the company only mentioned they were stopping distribution of the firmware update and did not say why.
Just as quickly as it was taken down, system update ver. 12.0.3 was back online. However, it seems that there may be lingering issues as Nintendo’s Customer Service provides instructions for if errors occur while downloading games, updating data, or using the microSDXC card.
While not a big issue overall, it seems like this is a first for Nintendo.
