Ricoh, a company known for its amazing compact cameras, just announced a high end 360 camera model.

The Ricoh Theta Z1 is $999, twice the price of Ricoh’s next models, something that’s definitely reflected in the tech specs, especially since this is the first Theta that can save in RAW.

It might look like the Ricoh Theta V but has bigger lenses and an OLED screen for information. It’s capable of shooting 360° images in 7K at 23 MP and has a 1.0-inch back illuminated CMOS image sensor that reduces noise significantly. The new lens brings F2.1, F3.5 and F5.6 aperture options with a maximum shutter speed of 1/25,000sec.

On the video front, you can record spherical videos in 4K at 29.97 FPS and you can even stream in 4K and 360 degrees, with sound provided by 4 microphones pointed in 4 different directions.

Ricoh also promised  a Time-Shift Shooting Mode which lets photographers duck out of the shot, a nice addition to modes like HDR Rendering and Interval Composite.

With 19 GB of built-in storage and a Li-ion battery that can handle 300 shots or 60 minutes of video, the Ricoh Theta Z1 is definitely an attractive option for those looking at 360 cameras. It will be here in late March, so they won’t have to wait long.
