Snap is working on a paid subscription to offer members early access to some features and other amenities.
Last year, Twitter launched a paid monthly subscription dubbed Twitter Blue for a customized user experience and access to premium features. Now Telegram is preparing to join the trend with its subscription called Telegram Premium, and Snapchat is yet another app hopping on the train of paid plans by developing a Snapchat subscription.
“We’re doing early internal testing of Snapchat Plus, a new subscription service for Snapchatters. We’re excited about the potential to share exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features with our subscribers, and learn more about how we can best serve our community,” said Snap spokesperson Liz Markman in a statement to The Verge.
She highlighted the fact that the Snapchat subscription Plus is currently in the testing phase of the process and so far the company is enthusiastic about the possibility of sharing ‘exclusive, experimental and pre-release features’ with users.
The feature, called Snapchat Plus was initially reported by the app developer and researcher Alessandro Paluzzi on Twitter, writing “Snapchat+ gives you access to exclusive, experimental and pre-release features such as the ability to pin the conversation with your Best Friend, the access to custom Snapchat icons, a special badge, etc.”
He also noted that pricing for the Snapchat subscription plan could reach 4.59 euros per month or 45.99 euros for a year, or approximately $4.81 and $48.21, respectively.
