At Mobile World Congress, Sony unveiled the Xperia X series, waterproof smartphones with kick-ass camera sensors and fingerprint scanners , and a suite of accessories to go with it – from the Agent, to the camera and the Ear. Yes, Sony released a hearable that doubles as a virtual assistant, too.
Xperia Ear takes your incoming calls, messages, keeps your calendar appointments and delivers the weather forecast like a responsible PA. Sony’s smart ear also behaves remarkably similar to Google Glass – you can give orders to it like writing an email or finding directions.
The device communicates with an Xperia smartphone via a special app or any other Android handset through a Gtalk app. It comes in different shapes, sizes and colors – white, black, pink, yellow.
You’ve probably figured out it’s ideal when you’re driving, cycling or jogging, since it also features a built-in accelerometer and gyroscope. Also, the battery should last around 3.5 hours of talk time and 80 hours of standby battery. The Xperia Ear goes on sale in summer.
