Huawei’s most recent wearable, the TalkBand B5 is the fourth generation of fitness trackers to roll out of the company and it is a hybrid that combines a Bluetooth headset with a fitness tracker.
Confusing? Let us explain.
Normally, it fits within a band that you can place on your wrist as any usual wristwatch and it will do its job as a fitness tracker counting your step and more. Now, if you happen to get a phone call, you will have to pop the thing out of place and put it in your ear and take that call.
You can also use it to listen to music but it’s not clear yet if you can stream it via the tracker itself or from your phone.
It’s an interesting design idea and Huawei also gave the users a handful of choices as far as materials go. You can find it in leather, metal and silicone variants as well as in different colors such as silver, white, blue and black.
The tracker itself might come in silver, gold or black from what we can see in the promotional images but Huawei could offer other options soon enough.
As far as specs go, the model features a 1.3-inch AMOLED display on the top with a 2.5D glass. It has a 300 x 160 pixel resolution on a rectangular screen. You can also use it when you are swimming as it comes with an IP67 water-resistant rating.
It’s all powered by a 108mAh battery which, according to Huawei, lasts around three and a half days after a full charge. It will work with all iPhones that run iOS 9 or above and Android devices that run 4.4 software or over.
The TalkBand B5 will go on sale in China tomorrow and will be widely available on other markets sometime next month, though it does not yet have a price tag attached to it. Best guess is somewhere around $286, like its predecessor.
